The Baby Cage

Well, hello baby cage! If you don't have enough space inside, why not let the baby stay on the outside? Seems like a perfectly good idea, don't you think?
Well, the baby cage did catch on - to a degree. It is first and foremost associated with New York, where the above photo is taken from. The photo is of a nanny supervising a baby in a wire cage in New York City. The cages were distributed to members of the Chelsea Baby Club who had no gardens. The photo was taken June 23, 1937.
The baby cage was used even in London, before World War 2 put an end to it.
